A sample of Tummy Time Guidelines taken from the pamphlet

  • For safe Tummy Time, place your baby on a firm padded surface without soft bedding or stuffed toys that may interfere with breathing.  Avoid waterbeds, beanbag chairs or similar soft padded furniture.

  • Tummy time can be gradually introduced using the positions and activities described in this pamphlet.  Use your own creative ideas as well.  You know your baby best.  Having toys, mirrors, colorful objects or pictures can be used to entertain your baby while working on motor control.

  • Talk with your doctor or health professional about tummy time for play.  Check if there are any special circumstances that need to be considered as your baby develops in his/her tummy skills.

The Importance of Tummy Time pamphlets contain complete guidelines to make tummy time safe and more successful for parent and baby.

The Importance of Tummy Time Works!

"My clients tell me all the time that their babies hate being on their tummies. These pamphlets are so easy to read and the parents are very happy with the ideas and suggestions. I have parents showing me the pamphlets now."
Libby Welsh, PNP, Saint Louis County

"We have the poster in our hallway at the clinic and we find many parents stop to look at it and ask for more information."
